To provide academic advising to students in the Biological Sciences Advising Center. Advising will be provided individually and in groups. Provide accurate and timely information on course and degree options to diverse population of students.
To provide academic advising for students individually and in groups. Present academic oriented material through workshops, facilitation of small learning cohorts and new student orientation. Facilitate multiple sections of Cornerstones cohorts. Attend meetings, professional development and serve on committees as assigned.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and experience working with student populations. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of constituents: students, parents, faculty and other staff members. Demonstrated professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Masters Degree in higher education, student affairs or counseling. Experience training, mentoring or leading student populations at the university level. Experience with academic advising at the university level. At least 1 year full-time experience working with college student populations, or UT experience as an orientation advisor, special program mentor, or other related position.
May work around standard office conditions

General office conditions with the majority of time spent in contact with students and student groups during usual office hours. Occasional evening and weekend work.
A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
