Summary

n

Under general supervision (but works independently most of the time), this role is responsible for providing administrative support to Northern Trust Securities, Inc. (NTSI) brokers with a focus on the options business.

n

The candidate will be a core part of the options business and will have daily communication with institutional clients providing routine security information, execution of trades as directed by clients and brokers and ad-hoc requests.

n

Major Duties

n

1. Provides client-facing administrative support to the options business by processing the following: new account applications, obtaining necessary account documents, resolving inquiries and handling account transfers, and post-trade operations.

n

2. Communicates daily with institutional clients coordinating options settlements, the delivery / payment of securities, and other routine requests.

n

3. Researches and resolves inquiries with a focus on options breaks, reconciliations, etc. and communicates resolution to appropriate parties.

n

4. May purchase and sell securities within scope of authority on behalf of the broker.

n

5. Works with clients and technology team to establish data/reconciliation feeds.

n

6. Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and / or internal business impact.

n

7. May have direct interaction with committees and / or Senior Management.

n

8. Able to serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to other more junior level employees.

n

9. More technically sound in area of expertise and has broader knowledge of other areas especially options.

n

10. Delivers a work product that is complete and accurate and requires minimal revision.

n

11. Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions.

Knowledge / Skills

Analytical and problem solving skills are required.

n

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

n

Security / investment industry knowledge is required.

n

Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Peoplesoft, Bloomberg, Microsoft Office) is required.

n

Experience Required

n

A College or University degree and / or relevant security industry work experience is preferred. Related Industry qualification (e.g. Series 7 and Series 63, registration required by the National Association of Securities, etc. to offer annuities) is required.
