Summary:

  • TheTraining Manager, Johnson Space Center-NASAis primarily responsible for managing all training facets in regards to NASA Protective Services Training Academy (NPSTA) and Johnson Space Center (JSC) local requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management, Leadership, and Supervisory Skills required to supervise a minimum of two mid-level management personnel assigned to or assisting the with training at JSC or White Sands Test Facility

  • Work in concert with all supervisors/managers and oversees and assists the Training Officer (when required and/or needed) to ensure all Security Contract Personnel maintain proficiency and meet all Contract Statement of Work Requirements

  • Provide technical instruction to Security Contract Personnel in a professional manner.

  • Directly oversees Training Officer to ensure the management and supervision of all training programs and firearms training programs are appropriately documented and conducted in a safe manner

  • Oversees the timely development, maintenance, and up-keep of applicable lesson plans, written measurements and practical evaluation checklists as needed

  • Oversees the development, maintenance, and up-keep of applicable databases, training sign-in source documents and individual training records

  • Oversees the Training Officer with the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) to ensure all required Security Contract Personnel understand the minimum requirements needed to attempt their PAT, that appropriate notification of attempts are provided as required and documentation of their PAT is completed

  • Ensure all training requirements are in compliance with all related NPSTA and local procedures and regulations

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must include a minimum of 10 years in Law Enforcement or Security training experience with instructor training certification for classroom instruction and firearms training and qualification or 5 years equivalent experience during military or federal service.

  • Graduate of an accredited community college and/or a combination of training, seminars, experience or education that provides knowledge required to perform tasking requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and the maintain a certifications as a NPSTA adjunct instructor

  • Must possess valid state driver’s license

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have proficiency in a variety of computer software applications to include TRAC, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office/classroom environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas for training operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
