Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

  • Ownership of OCS and OFC cost reduction database and iKaizen database as well as support PEx Program. Develops and maintains a list of Global Cost Reduction projects across all OCS and OFC, leading to annual cost reduction planning processes, Green Book and Black Book. Collects all cost reduction data and analyzes for accuracy. Works with Site cost reduction champions to ensure cost reduction reporting is timely and accurate. They will also be responsible for communication reports, including but not limited to project portfolio, cost reduction forecast, and cost reduction actuals.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of CR database for OFC and OCS

  • Maintain project portfolio database o Collect all CR data and analyze for accuracy

  • Publish CR reports and project portfolio reports o Approval and tracking of all changes to the Database

  • Training of site champions and procurement representatives on Database responsibilities and expectations

  • Work collaboratively across countries, and functions to assess cost reduction portfolio

  • Support PEx Global Champion and Regional PEx Champions in data collection and SRA management

  • Provide monthly update on PEx % by region o Analyze CR data with PEx data and address any discrepancies

  • Ownership of iKaizen Database o Collect iKaizen data for OCS o Publish iKaizen reports

  • Approval and tracking of all changes to Database o Training of site champions on Database

Strategy & Execution Skills:

  • The ability to build a structural platform within the organization considering functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • Experience creating technical training; development of on-line training is a positive

  • Green or Black Belt Certification a positive

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders across the globe

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective communicator, able to deliver message through presentations, written, and verbal messages

Travel Requirements:

  • Depending on the employee’s location, travel will be occasionally required • Expect to travel 5-10% of the time

Hours of Work/Work Schedule/Flex-Time:

  • Standard work hours are M-F 8:00-5:00, however, overtime or shifted work hours is not uncommon and is indeed expected at times.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 3+ years cost reduction project management experience

  • PEx experience desired Knowledge of OCS product lines preferred
