The Walt Disney Company Manager, Technology in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
The primary purpose of this role is to Manage the Sustainment and Development for Disney Vacation Club, running multiple environments and applications to deliver a prioritized and planned set of work (both capital and expense) that deliver fixes and new functionality for Disney Vacation Club Technology.
Responsibilities :
Provide Technical & Managerial Leadership and day to day guidance to multiple application teams
Work closely with product managers, project teams and line of business partners to prioritize tasks.
Assemble releases and drive improvements in the delivery and release processes.
Lead teams by mentoring and coaching, answering questions and solving problems.
Lead small, medium and large development projects within the Disney Vacation Club environment.
To maintain strong Relationships with outsource vendors to ensure top quality solution delivery (onshore and offshore)
To Build and lead multiple development and sustainment teams consisting of product owners, developers and business analysts (onshore and offshore)
Coordination of upgrades, implementations, and system outage recoveries as required supporting a 24x7 operation
Maintain strong relationships with key Business Partners
Work with the appropriate partners in Planning, Release Management and Governance to ensure that work items are processed expeditiously according to our business partner’s needs.
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum of 5-7 years as a direct leader of teams in roles of increasing technical leadership across enterprise devops systems engineering disciplines
Minimum 10+ years of overall experience in project management methodology and practices with 5+ years managing software development projects.
Proven knowledge and experience in the technology field and technology project delivery
Experience leading technical sustainment teams providing 24x7 support of critical applications
A demonstrated pattern of leadership, formal or otherwise.
Experience managing complex, highly integrated, large scale, delivery efforts
Proven ability to leverage resources and knowledge and manage across functional boundaries to deliver value to the customer and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict with and among teams, peers and leaders.
Ability to run effective meetings and provide accurate & timely communications of objectives, progress, status and issues.
Proven ability to properly manage project timeline and financials including budget, cost, invoices, budget supplements, and change orders.
Adaptability in a quickly changing environment and interactions with a broad customer base with diverse needs and functional responsibilities.
Excellent written and verbal communications, proven ability to develop and deliver presentations geared for Executive Management
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Has solid understanding of the software development life cycle SDLC (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and documentation) and associated execution models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative Development, etc.).
Disciplined approach to software development. Including defining and enforcing engineering best practices.
Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
Able to resolve matters/issues in a positive manner
Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
Demonstrated understanding of the importance of maintainable / sustainable product solutions
SOFT SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The position requires frequent communication with senior leaders, technical colleagues and partners across several different geographic locations and time zones
Proven ability to work with all members of an extended and diverse project team
Must be detail-oriented, self-organized, be committed to quality and be capable of tracking multiple issues simultaneously
Candidate must have mentoring and guidance skills to provide oversight and direction to contractors and internal members of the software development team
Ability to handle virtual teams and work with resources in multiple sites (onsite, offshore, near shore)
Has shown the ability to initiate change and act with integrity when tough decisions have to be made
Excellent time management skills
Support on-call response to critical operational issues; be able to work beyond normal hours and support 24x7 ongoing operations, implementation transition activities and hyper-care shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of Disney Vacation Club operations and/or Timeshare management systems
