The Boeing Company International Taxation Manager in Queensland, Australia

Job Summary

  • Ensure that in conducting business in the European & Asia Pacific regions, Boeing complies with all relevant taxation laws in a manner that minimises related tax exposure.

  • Provide tax planning and tax strategic advice to Boeing entities operating in the European & Asia Pacific regions.

  • Undertake tax related projects as agreed from time to time, including the design of Tax Technology and ERP related systems.

  • Act as team lead for European and Australia based tax staff (currently 6 with 1 on maternity leave)


Tax Advice & Planning

  • Development and implementation of a tax strategic plan for the European and Asia Pacific region in alignment with Boeing’s global tax strategy and goals and objectives.

  • Provide advice to relevant Boeing entities and functions.

  • Member of Tax Management Team (global).

  • Tax Representative to local Boards, Country Leadership Team or other groups as required to provide taxation advice or represent taxation interests in strategic planning.

  • Liaise with external advisors to obtain taxation advice in relation to high-risk transactions where required.


  • Oversight of compliance processes and filings in relevant region including (but not limited to):

    o  Income Tax

    o  Transfer Pricing

    o  GST/VAT

    o  Fringe Benefits Tax

    o  Tax Provision

  • o Techncial review of all Australian and New Zealand corporate tax calculations/returns (income tax, R&D, GST and FBT) prepared in house by local team.

  • o Ensure that Boeing meets its International tax compliance requirements through liaision with external taxation advisors.

Audits and Tax Dispute Resolution

  • Manage reviews and audits by local regulatory bodies.

  • Development and implemention of audit risk minisation strategies for Boeing in the European & Asia Pacific region.

  • Preparation of, submission of and ongoing management of disputes, private ruling requests, amendment requests and negotiations with relevant regulatory bodies.

Legislative and Regulatory Oversight

  • Continual review and assessment of proposed legislative and regulatory changes in relation to taxation matters in relevant jurisdictions, to determine any impact on Boeing.

  • Communication of such impact of legislative and regulatory changes to any affected Boeing business.

  • Tax Representative to relevant industry or Government groups regarding legislative change.


  • Provide direction and leadership to the Taxation Staff (direct reports), including technical support, training, monitoring performance and regular formal feedback.

  • Provide guidance to other Taxation Staff, including technical support and training where necessary.

Essential Criteria

  • Ideally Accounting degree qualified

  • Membership of a professional accounting body (ACA, CPA, equivalent)

  • Proven experience as a tax professional in either a large accounting firm or in commerce

  • A personal commitment to technical excellence and a willingness to share this with others

  • Professional ethical standards un-compromised by conflicting interests

  • Ability to work with limited instruction and supervision, and to tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels

  • Experience in managing a team of tax professionals

  • Attention to detail

  • Willingness to travel
