VGA has an opportunity for a qualified National Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Manager to join our Human Resources team at our new Head Office located in Brisbane’s western suburbs. This is a great opportunity for a senior workplace health & safety leader to partner with the business and executive team to advise and influence while driving cultural change across a multi-site organisation. . You will be hands-on, providing leadership and guidance for the SHEQ team to develop and execute Volvo Group’s safety strategy.
This position reports to the Vice President of HR and is an opportunity for an accomplished SHEQ Leader to be part of a large team and a globally recognised brand. This position will require infrequent national travel.
About the role:
Develop, execute and maintain the national SHEQ strategy ensuring alignment with business priorities
Provide expert advice to the Executive Team in all areas of SHEQ regarding legal requirements, legislation changes and business risks
Develop and maintain risk management processes and safe work practices, procedures and policies, ensuring compliance with national/state legislation
Review the safety culture across all sites, influencing and implementing SHEQ best practice
Coach and mentor SHEQ team members to create a high performing team of SHEQ professionals
Develop and report on all key aspects of Health, Safety, Rehabilitations and Compensation metrics, including injury management
Identify and develop SHEQ training programs for employees and site representatives
Monitor and support environmental certification to ISO14001 with regards to external compliance
Oversee the Injury management process by developing forms, policies and procedures and compliance to relevant legislation in QLD, NSW, Victoria and Northern Territory
Coordinate and liaise with external authorities with regards to common law and factual investigation of company litigation across workers compensation and public liability
About you:
Tertiary qualifications in Workplace, Health Safety (or similar discipline)
Qualified as Workplace Trainer and Assessing (Level 2 Category 4) Workplace Health, Safety Officer (WHSO) and QES Auditor
10+ years demonstrated experience within a national multi-site (15+) environment, within the manufacturing (or similar) industry
Extensive WHS policy knowledge and understanding of current legislation across all Australian sites
Extensive knowledge of OHS systems and AS 4801 and state based WHS and Workers Compensation legislation
Extensive experience conducting safety and environment training
Previous experience implementing and maintaining ISO14001 accreditation in a complex organisation
Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to influence outcomes through others
Ability to positively promote change at both an operational and strategic level
Team player with excellent communication skills both spoken and written
Strong problems solving skills and attention to detail.
